What is Synchronized Skating?

Watch our season recap!   Synchro_Recap_2024_25.mp4

Synchronized skating (often called synchro) is a figure skating discipline in which a team of 8 to 16 skaters performs a choreographed routine together on the ice. The goal is to move in unison with precise formations and intricate footwork, creating patterns and shapes.

It is a great opportunity for figure skaters interested in a fun team environment to improve their skating skills and bond with other skaters.

At Silver Blades, our Synchronized Skating team is called Ice Unite.

When does Synchro practice?

Due to limited ice time at Central Arena, the Synchro teams practice at Centennial Arena and Canadian Ice Academy.  The team schedule is determined each year based on the level of each team. Practice commitment is as follows:

Star 6 & up: 2 times per week.  Practices are 2-3 hours.

Beginner & Star 4: 1 time per week.

Because this is a team sport and each skater has a role, practices are mandatory.

Does Ice Unite Compete?

Yes! Ice Unite had a very successful 2024/25 Season. Both our Star 6 and Star 8 Teams qualified for the Provincial Championships. Teams have the opportunity to compete 3 - 4 times in a season between December to March. Competitions are held in Ontario.
